Activision unleashes banhammer on PC Modern Warfare 2 cheaters today

Have you been hit by the banhammer yet? In case you weren't aware, and in case you've been doing some extra-legal tactics in Modern Warfare 2 (aka cheating), then you're in for some trouble as Activision is out to get the whole lot of you today.

The announcement was made by Robert Bowling via Twitter in response to one gamer's concerns about cheating in the said blockbuster title. So tweeted Bowling: "Top men are on it. In fact, the Steam ban hammer is coming down on about 2,500 confirmed #MW2 cheaters on PC today."

I hope none of you are part of that 2,500. Banhammers are never good news.

Not like its untrue. Old Id engine, Counter-Strike gameplay, no vehicles, no destructive environments. MF2 is probably the oldest looking game for this generation, but because of the CoD name people are easily blinded into buying it. Bad Company 2 is an unknown since its not even out, but at least it improves on the shooter genre. Not just another Counter-Strike clone with a bunch of gimmicks like MF2.

dude do you have cataracts or something? MW2 looks amazing, and graphics do not make a game.

also people buy call of duty games because the brand is quality, no other shooter can give the cinematic experience that COD delivers and the multiplayer is what most games try to live up to but cant.

it seems to me that you are just butthurt that MW2 sold 10 million in a week no game has topped that and BC2 will never even amount to those sales, or that you are mad about dedicated servers.

stop trying to act like a rebel by hating the best it does not make you cool and just face that fact that MW2 is the better game and always will be.

first of all thats impossible. secondly, i like everyone else who plays like a man get upset over "campers", but as one should know, camping is not a winning formula in the long run. i typically will look for the camping spots and get them before they get me anyways. just be alert at all times and you should be okay.

I give those cheaters props for breaking IW's service real quick. That's what they get for using their own stuff and not trusting anyone else with servers.

And as far as BC2 being better than MW2, I have mixed feelings. The Spec-Ops in MW2 is good as far as Co-Oping. But the regular multiplayer is not all that special. Maps aren't big enough, the matches go by too fast. People rank up too quick. But, as far as Battlefield goes, they're using their experience from working with PC multiplayers and putting it towards consoles. Therefore bigger maps, more players, vehicles, longer game, and it takes people longer to rank.

But, thats just a PC player talking.

1st off all u make a big mistake whene you compare the ripp machine to a real project as BFBC2 , MW2 hase nothing to do with hight end video games , and riche noobs enjoy now playing the past hardcore tresor , ok listen

you have been ripped , and youll be over ripped by DLC , how a gamer can not see the defirence betwen a good and bad game , how a human cant have a taste of good thing ,

pls reboot your COD4 and compare that level design to MW2 level design , yes we have us houses modeled in MW2 but that not all , COD4 impressed people buy its original concept of midel estern ditructive level design and the mix of light scenario and the animation ,

pls comare the sniper mission on the COD4 to that joke on MW2 , in MW2 i feel just like im playing rainbow six vegas 2 and sure even the next rainbow six will beter than this , this was a nice tactical game when progress was very very difecult , now we have a army of two like game with some stupid hair style " ohh yes that 1st mission on COD4 guys , that was a master piece of war fps "

So im very sad to see how we gamer are very week again th egiant marketing machine , yes they IW ACTI**** made a great job buy selling this game without

- videos

- demos

- testers

Im sure that no one of does who participated in killing this series care right now .

Activision did a great job , they made big money , people are enjoying that game , and they are a lot .

so just hope BFBC2 is a good game to keep in .

IW made a good choice by removing COD prefix bcz they noticid that is not a COD game .

i recomand to all COD fan i speak to real players who use lean , to switch to BFBC2 or keep in COD4

They could make a feature which kicks players who stay in a proximity circle of 5-10 meters and only excluded people who have a sniper rifle on hand?

Cause people sitting around in dodgy corners waiting for people just to improve their K/D ratio is bloody annoying.

I myself also have the same view as symbyosis only because of a few issues. Such as mainly that the game has been "dumb-ed" down for new players who haven't played the series before.

I could actually massacre everyone in free-for-all without even trying.

But BFBC2 has a harder approach as camping doesn't really work... Staying in one spot too long and the building your in would get blitzed by tanks, mortars and air strikes.

The map sizes are huge and have a complicated approach which is more of "adapt or be killed".
