Obsidian Entertainment takes a second look at Neverwinter Nights 2 |
Ó
After the release of Neverwinter Nights 2, the folks over at GameBanshee thought it would be nice to ask people from Obsidian Entertainment to have a second look at the D&D RPG for a post-release opinion. They got hold of Ryan Rucinski, the senior producer. Here's a rundown of what of the interview:NWN2 does have its ups and downs. Fans were upset about the steep system requirements to run the visually wonderful game but have more or less expressed their love of the sequel. Rucinski was also impressed by the increasing number of fan-made NWN2 modules coming out. The creativity of some of the authors of the modules have allowed them to do things that OE never thought possible.
NWN2 fans would be delighted to know that the support for NWN2 will continue until a definite date has been determined. There is already a patch on the way, and there's plans for two other patches.
There are some content and features cut from the game due to constraints, although OE is already at work to bring more content - mostly additional features - although how and when they are going to be released is still uncertain. Rucinski did express that he would have liked to change some things during NWN2's development.
If you're hoping that the old sidekicks from NWN would make a comeback in NWN2, you might want to know that OE has no plans of introducing companions from NWN. The senior producer does hope, however, that an expansion pack would add epic levels, new races, and classes and more monsters and...what's this? A hint that OE is working on an expansion?
Well, scorch us and dip us in acid...we'll be looking forward to that.
