Minecraft On Vita? No.

Daniel Kaplan of Mojang has said in an interview that Minecraft is not coming to the Vita. His reasons? There are none. Cobalt, the upcoming 2D platformer from Mojang also will not be coming to Vita. Why? ‘The controls don’t fit the touch screen’.

Pardon my French, but bollocks, Mr Kaplan. He seems to be confusing the controls on a Vita with that of a smartphone, as the Vita indeed has buttons and analogue sticks. Two of them.

It has almost the same amount of buttons as a 360 controller. It probably has more buttons than the PC version. Scrolls, Mojang’s other little thing, is coming to touch screens, so that’s something.

Minecraft has had its fair share of fun, with Minecon, Xperia port, 360 port, smartphone rip offs, all that. But hopping onto what seems to be a hot gaming device? Nope.

I’ll just wait for the Xbox Live Arcade version.

I don't get the fascination with Minecraft. I'd seriously like for someone to explain it's main draw to me.
As far as I can see, you build. You build ugly looking structures, that vaguely (OK, sometimes it's not so vague) resemble prominent things from the real world, movies or other games. Then what? It's not like LittleBigPlanet , where you could spend weeks making a level that contained traps, puzzles, story and objectives, then actually play it.

Well, you see, Minecraft is made for people who like adventure, mining, battling, surviving, and most importantly(in my opinion) building.

Not only does it include the above, but the modding community makes a good amount of great mods that very from blocks that aren't just blocks, more monsters and animals, and gameplay features like climbing, leveling up skills, etc.

Aside from that, in this statement:

"It probably has more buttons than the PC version."

Was it meant to mean that the game uses less buttons than the Vita has, or was it saying the PC has less keys than a Vita has buttons?

Anyway, it's sad that they would put Minecraft on the Xperia, but not the Vita.

I like adventure, mining, battling, surviving, and building, but the problem is that everything save for exploration and building is ridiculously shallow, and building is only good if your willing to invest many many MANY hours doing something that only you will care about (typically).My friend tried over and over again to get me into it and I genuinely TRIED, but it's just not that interesting to me.

Sure there are some mods out there (well, LOTS) but for such a game it feels like a waste of time to me. Why add mods to make the game too different of an experience from your friend or make it too easy with gimmicky crap like helicopters. Wanna see a building built out of blocks and wasted time? I got Youtube for that.

As for why it won't be on the Vita, I believe the reasons are threefold:

1.)There aren't enough fans that'll be clamoring for it if Vita sales numbers keep up their current crap trend.

2.)Lack of fans means lack of money to be made on the Vita, so a lot of effort for little reward is a no no.

3.)Do you really think they can get it running well on ANYTHING??? Excluding a decent PC of coarse, but my PC runs Mass Effect 1 and 2 on High settings better than it runs Minecraft.

That's like watching football instead of playing...also I take it you think Legos are a waste of time?

I will say it eventually gets boring though since as far as I know you can't add new content to multiplayer like monsters, weapons, etc. without having everyone download the mods.

Me neither, well you see, I also don't understand the fascination with games like GTA, Saints Row, or Deadrising or PES, Madden, etc, but they are still a big success...
To each their own...everyone has different concepts for fun..

I was just like you before I tried it, now I can't leave it alone. All I did was try it once and now I spend a lot of time building things you'll never see possible in realy life.

Minecraft is a game that allows you to do whatever you can imagine, similar to the idea behind LittleBigPlanet . Minecraft is what most would say a sandbox game, you should at least try it before you make that sort of comment.

If you still don't understand check out Yogscast videos on minecraft, then you'll see that Minecraft has no limit.

Mojang are a bunch of understaffed, overrated, underskilled developers that people seem to love, for one reason or another.

I was actually quite surprised to hear that they started on a Xbox360 version, sounds way out of their league, but then again, it is an Indy game, is it not?

I'm not surprised that their map editor isn't coming to the PSV, it would be a shame on the PSV's gamelist.

Probably some exclusive deal with microsoft, where they were told that they aren't allowed to make one for sony's major game systems. Either way, its a bit unfortunate.
