europa universalisGamersinfo was able to have a quick chit-chat with the guys from Paradox Interactive, makers of the upcoming strategy PC game Europa Universalis 3. In the interview, they talk about the multiplayer aspect of the game, the battle system, AI, and tons more. Here are a few snippets from the interview:

On the cooperative multiplayer: This will allow several players to play (read: rule and control) the same country. However, as the feature's name indicates, those governing the same country would have to cooperate, and the devs suggest a division of labor: one will focus on diplomacy, another on colonization and conquest, etc.

If you think about it, ruling a country with your friends sounds quite fun, but of course if you have tyrannical tendencies then go ahead and fly solo, the power's all in your hands (Mwahaha!*evil laugh*).

On graphics: We'll let the devs themselves talk you through this one:

Rather than having a few set zoom levels the new engine can create several zoom levels just by turning the mouse wheel. The other great feature of the map engine is that it is easy to modify. If you do not like the boundaries of the province, you can edit them yourself in paint. You can change terrain and other factors just as easily. It is the ultimate tool for people who love to mod our games.

Oh, and of course...

On why Isaac Newton won't work for Africa: No, Isaac Newton isn't (or wasn't?) being racist, it's just that the way Great Men will work in the game is that they'll only move to countries within the same grouping. So, Sir Isaac Newton can't be moved to work for a primitive African tribe. You guys get the drift. BUT, the devs do say that it's possible to make Galileo work for China IF you manage to get China in the same tech group as the Europeans.

So anyway, if this has piqued your interest, we strongly suggest you check out the full interview by clicking on the read link below. Who wouldn't want to rule her/his own country, right?! Rated E by the ESRB, the Hitler and Stalin tendencies in you can come out full swing when the game's released January 23rd next year.
