Skyrim's Map Contains all of Tamriel |
Listed in: Genre Tags: Bethesda, elder scrolls, morrowind, oblivion, skyrim
Skyrim is a massive game, both in terms of gameplay time and in terms of pure size. The geographic layout of the nation of Skyrim isn’t the largest map ever conceived, but it’s certainly one of the most detailed and is packed with more activities per square yard than any other game I can think of off the top of my head.
But recently discovered evidence indicates that the province of Skyrim may be just the beginning for this, the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series.

One savvy 19-year-old gamer has discovered that the entire landmass of Tamriel was actually built into Skyrim. For those that are unfamiliar with the franchise, Skyrim is just one nation in the larger empire of Tamriel – Morrowind and Oblivion are also parts of this empire. What this gamer has figured out is that Bethesda built every part of Tamriel into the map, even though players can currently only access Skyrim itself.
Right now, invisible walls block progress to those other locations. But it’s entirely possible that we’ll see DLC aimed at expanding our character’s travels. After all, Bethesda has to have built the entire landmass for a reason – it could be for DLC, it could be for looks, and it could be for the benefit of modders.
Do you think opening the lands of Tamriel is a good plan for DLC, or would you rather see more Skyrim (the nation)-specific content?

They are ripping off customers with on disc dlc.

You see, they built the land and such, so that it matches the map, but the actual land is non detailed and not solid(you fall through when walking)
They most likely did this as more of a modders' resource.
When they make DLC it will most likely be like the Shivering Isles not an on-continent(Skyri m being an exception) expansion.

The hellish one is Mehrune Dagon's Oblivion real I think.
You're right about Cyrodiil though, shouldn't have said Oblivion and Morrowind.

Why? Lets see, because they release modding tools making the on-disc DLC *pointless* as people would be able to legitimately unlock it using the modding tools.
If it is for future DLC, then what's the big deal? You were not EXPECTING it. So why should you be disappointed? Be happy that Bethesda have made a game that lives up to expections.

Anyways, why are people complaining about the land mass already being in the game? Its not like they have EVERYTHING on the disc and are trying to sell it later (like lionhead with Fable 3). Everyone seems to think that.
The land "mass" on the disc is probably mountains and crap near skyrim(aestheti c reasons) and past that is probably endless trees and shrubbery like outside of cyrodiil's map in Oblivion.
Bethesda is only going to make one or two DLC's that are actually substantial so that you can get your money's worth. If you don't like it then don't freaking buy it.
