Storied developer Peter Molyneux is no stranger to creating God games. His title known as Populous practically invented the subset of the RTS genre and even today still has a healthy amount of followers. It is this sheer popularity that prompted the creative mind to embark on a new and independent journey called Godus. Thanks to over $7,779 worth of donations from Kickstarter, that game is finally happening. Here's everything you need to know about it.

In many ways God games are quite a bit like what you see from any RTS title with just a tiny bit more personal control and preference. At the start of your experience, you will be endowed as an omnipotent being with just a few meager followers to build a village. However, over time, the concept of your power spreads, leading to more and more people under your command. With more forces at your disposal, the abilities you can use will become significantly more powerful both in regards to sculpting territory and punishing those who have sinned.
All of this power begins to matter even more when your own civilization clashes with some of the other nearby locals. As any respecting God would to to non-believers, you have the ability to attack those enemies until they are vanquished from this earth. If you think that sounds pretty epic you're right, but it gets better. We have recently received word that Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters' son Harry is looking to create the soundtrack to the game. Molyneux hopes that the two will be able to strike a deal very quickly.
Ready to play God? Godus is planned to be released by September 2013.
