NES Emulator Being Developed by AAA Dev for Ouya? |

If you haven't heard of the Ouya by now, you might just be living under a rock. This Android-powered console raked in over nine million dollars during the span of its Kickstarter campaign under a very important premise: this was going to be one of the world's first truly open game consoles. That means that developers will be able to make any program they like and run it from the machine without any security measures getting in the way. Sounds pretty cool right?

For anybody that has been a part of any console scene before you can bet it does! Instead of battling day in and day out with big companies like Sony and Microsoft, in theory the Ouya will fully embrace homebrew. That's not even the best part. As of right now, it remains that the unit itself is only going to set you back one hundred dollars. If that's not a return to gaming days of the past I'm not sure what is.
As you can expect, emulators then have become the subject of debate for the system. Will we be able to run emulators? As of right now, the answer certainly seems like a resounding yes thanks to the announcement of EMUya, a NES emulator for the open system. While not much is known about the project at this point, the developer has said that it will be the best TV based emulation experience you can possibly have while taking control of all four cores the console has to offer. What's more is, this developer also says that he will apply his skills learned from work on titles like Uncharted and Rage. Sounds like a pretty solid project to me. Obviously I'll very tentatively throw this in the rumor bin for now, but supposedly screen shots will be coming soon.
If you want an Ouya, they are supposedly still on track for a March 2013 release.

paul has already started porting the Mupen64+ AE to ouya, since the ouya and android coding structures are very similar, except for some UI stuff since ouya doesnt have touchscreen support
