inXile Entertainment's Brian Fargo actually took the time to chime in in the comments section of an article on OXM that derided the 1200 MSP ($15) price point, saying that the developers put in a lot more work into Choplifter HD than what we normally see on downloadable updates of old games. Unlike those remakes that normally run $5-$10, claims Brian Fargo, inXile spent over 1.6 million dollars on the development of Choplifter HD, saying they "went all out on this baby."

He also said that the game would be getting free DLC after release, "to really make sure people feel they are getting the most value possible."

OK, this DLC thing is getting out of hand. If the DLC was always intended to be free, it should just be a part of the game. If it was originally intended to be pay DLC but converted to free after the mini-furor over the price point, then I totally understand. The game does look very cool, so maybe the developers should just put out a free demo if possible to better entice people to pay the higher price point.

Choplifter HD will be available on XBLA, PSN, and Windows PC January 11th.

I don't see a problem with $15. The game looks pretty sweet.

Hey, it's cheaper than a map pack.

Sorry, but without a disc and manual I won't pay over $10 for DLC. Games used to launch for $10 on PSN and obviously I don't care for this new $15 or $20 launch price.

It'll go on sale later, then we'll talk.
