Blizzards Co-Founder to Receive Philanthropic Award |

The ESA foundation began in 2000 to help raise money for youth charity programs throughout the United States. To date, game pack sales and associated events have raised in excess of $12million.
This award recognizes Blizzard's ongoing fundraising efforts for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Blizzard's have donated more than $1million towards the Make-A-Wish foundation from sales of in game 'companion' pets from World of Warcraft.
Additionally, they have offered some sick kids the opportunity to tour and play World of Warcraft at their headquarters in Irvine, California.
"Through company sponsored initiatives, Mike and Blizzard Entertainment raised nearly two million dollars over the past two years along to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions" said Michael. D Gallagher, CEO of the ESA.
The award is likely to be presented to Mike during the annual 'Nite to Unite - For Kids' charity event, being held in San Francisco on October 25th. The event is being held at the Westin St. Francis Hotel and will feature other big name game companies such as:
Laurent Detoc, President - Ubisoft Entertainment
Shinji irano, President - Konami Digital Entertainment
Mike Fischer, President & CEO, Square Enix
