Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand Trailer Live |
Listed in: Genre Tags: back to karkand, battlefield 3, DICE
Battlefield 3 has only been out for about a week, but DICE and EA are already pushing the game’s first downloadable content pack, Back to Karkand. The DLC contains four maps from Battlefield 2, updated and imported into the Frostbite 2 engine developed for BF3.
The DLC pack promises new weapons and new maps, but most of all it promises an increase in the destructive damage you see across the Battlefield world. Check it out here:
If you pre-ordered Battlefield 3 or managed to pick up a Limited Edition by dumb luck (like me!), the DLC is absolutely free of charge and you’ll get it automatically on release date. If you didn’t, you’ll have to ante up $14.99 or 1200 MS points for the privilege of playing on repurposed maps. The pack also offers new “persistence,” which though I’ve been playing BF3 all week I can’t quite figure out. I think it has something to do with your ribbons?
Anyway, $15 for four maps seems pretty steep – weren’t we just furious about a similar price point for five MW2 maps? I guess this is the new future of downloadable content.
Are you going to purchase Back to Karkand? It drops sometime in December.

True, but unlike the maps for CoD these ones are worth a damn...

It's got better gameplay than MW3, but if they balanced it, they should be embarrassed.
