Intel Extreme Masters Season 6 |
Listed in: News, Events Tags: cs 1.6, esports, iem, league of legends, sc2, starcraft 2
ESports numbers have been growing steadily recently, mostly on the back of Starcraft 2's release in July 2010 along with the added introduction of better streaming platforms such as those available from Twich.tv in the US and 0wn3d.tv in Europe.
Games being played at the event in Guangzhou include Starcraft 2, League of Legends and Counterstrike 1.6.

League of legends includes a team from the European Esports stalwart, SK Gaming, as well entries from two Chinese teams, World Elite and IG that have shown promise recently.
CS 1.6 features German team Mouz, Australian team Immunity and the Swedish powerhouse side of fnatic.
While in Starcraft 2 the field is wide open... for the Koreans to take another tournament and further stamp their dominance on the game. Since release, the Korean players have been a class above the rest of the world. The saving grace may be that there is only 3 of them in attendance at this competition, Jyp, Puma (the recent $50,000 NASL winner) and Way.
This marks the 6th season of the Intel Extreme Masters, with additional events to be held later this year and in 2012 at:
- Comic Con New York: October 13th-16th, 2011
- Global Challenge in Kiev, Ukraine: January 19th-22nd 2012
- Global Challenge in Sao Paulo, Brazil: February 6th - 12th, 2012
The Guangzhou event will be held over four days and live streams will be available for those of who are interested. Unfortunately, no HD stream will be able to be provided due to local internet issues on location in China (purchasers can apply for a credit note via ESL site support).
