Pokemon Heading to 3DS? |

This year saw the launch of Pokémon White and Pokémon Black for the Nintendo DS. Both games were about as successful as Pokémon games usually are, and received about the same response from critics and fans as usual. Nintendo is the one company in gaming that seems to understand the maxim of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and Pokémon is the crown jewel of their empire. Before the latest round of Pokémon games were announced and long before they hit our handhelds, Nintendo purchased the Pokemonblackwhite.com domain through Melbourne IT Digital Brand Services.
Now it looks like fans of the Pokémon brand have something new to look forward to, as the very same company has recently put a lock on Pokemongray.com. It could be some savvy web user looking to extort a few thousand dollars out of Nintendo, but it’s more likely that Nintendo is once again using Melbourne IT DBS to set up a domain for its next big property.
The site is pretty bland and states only:
“This Internet address is being managed by Melbourne IT DBS for one of the world's top brands. At the present time there is no active Web Site for the address. It may be under construction, or the owner may have reserved the address for future needs. “
So before we get all excited and start arguing about our favorite Pokémon, it’s probably best to wait for an official announcement. One can’t help but think this might be the first Pokémon title to grace the Nintendo DS; it’s pretty much the only major Nintendo franchise that hasn’t made an appearance on the device. Of course, if history is any indicator, the game is more likely headed to the regular Nintendo DS, with remastered or brand new games hitting the 3DS a little while later. That’s what we saw with Pokémon Silver and Pokémon Soul Silver, for example.
What do you think is going to happen? 3D Pokémon or DS Black/White mash-up? Do you think Pokémon’s simplistic gameplay will transfer well into 3D?

Update: Savvy readers have pointed out that Pokemon Rumble Blast actually hits the 3DS today (can't believe I forgot!) I also seem to have crossed my Pokemon titles, citing Silver and Soul Silver when I should have cited Diamond, Pearl and then Platinum. I'll leave the errors in so everyone can make fun of my poor Pokemoning skills.

What the fuck are you talking about? Pokémon Silver released on the Game Boy Color, and Pokémon SoulSilver was a fucking remake, FOR A DIFFERENT CONSOLE (which defeats your "point"), MANY YEARS LATER.
I'm fairly certain you meant Gold/Silver, then Crystal, Red/Blue, then Yellow, Ruby/Sapphire, then Emerald, and finally, Diamond/Pearl, then Platinum.
That was a really really stupid mistake to make.
And finally... I really hope they don't call it Gray. That sounds stupid. But if it were to be released, I don't see why they wouldn't release it on 3DS. The console's struggling, and even a game which is basically already out getting a bit of 3D flashiness would give it a big boost.

i admit when i seen the silver/gold remakes it looks like they took their FR/LG work and ehanced it futher but considering some of the ds games had been in development for 5 years its no surprise that they might have been working on SS/HG during or near the end of FR/LG's development
