The 5th annual Game Developers Conference (GDC) Europe started today at the Cafe Royal in London, and runs through Thursday, Sept. 1, and Gamasutra will be covering all the major events, including the keynotes and multiple lectures from GDCE.

The GDC Europe [organized by CMP Media, which also runs Gamasutra.com] is the core event for game development professionals in Europe who wish to shape the industry and expand the resources, tools and technologies they use to create next generation games. The annual event is the principal gathering place where European professionals will help set the agenda for interactive entertainment for years to come.

This year's conference builds upon the Future Vision theme, recently unveiled at the 2005 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco this past March. To that end, GDC Europe has assembled an impressive lineup of keynote sessions focused on the future of games. Attendees will hear from and interact with powerhouse executives representing Sony and Microsoft in addition to celebrated game developer Keita Takahashi, whose Katamari Damacy has created waves throughout the video game industry.

"GDC Europe provides the European game development community an essential forum in which to learn and network," said Jamil Moledina, director, Game Developers Conference Europe. "Through visionary speakers and content, the event will inform, inspire, and influence European professionals to help set the global agenda for interactive entertainment."
