Nintendo has big things in store for its fans. There's the Wii U, and even before that comes out we'll be treated to the new Zelda games being released as part of the series' 25th anniversary celebration. Those hoping for a collection similar to what Nintendo did with Mario last year are in for a disappointment, however.

In the latest Iwata Asks column, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata and Zelda mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto reveal that the 25th anniversary logo is the closest fans will get to a Zelda collection. Nintendo of America proposed releasing a collection but both men shot the idea down. Apparently, they felt that it isn't very Nintendo-like to release collections two years in a row.

Zelda fans are still getting a huge helping of Link this year, though. There's The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for 3DS, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Wii, and there's even a free DSi game called The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords.

They probably don't want to saturate the market with too many Zelda games out in one year.

Um, well, yeah. Iwata himself told us what we're getting for the anniversary during his keynote.

Personally, I'm very happy with it!

However, you forgot the free soundtrack CD you get when you buy Zelda 3D. While supplies last!

Getting Four Swords for free is simply awesome! But I wonder, can I connect my GBA to my 3DS? ;p

I'd rather have new games that ports or collections any day. I can already play the old games.
