There's more turn-based demon collecting in store for Nintendo DS gamers. Atlus today announced that Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor's sequel is coming to North America next year.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 builds on the original game's turn-based combat with elements of grid-based strategy. Features include an intense narrative with multiple endings based on player actions, the beautiful visuals and sounds the Shin Megami Tensei series is renowned for, the addicting challenge of collecting, customizing, auctioning, and fusing every last demon in the game, and much more.
Atlus is also adding a new mechanic similar to the Social Links found in Persona 3 and 4 that allows player to develop bonds with their party members to unlock special rewards. Getting to know them better is important, too, since every single party member in the game can succumb to permadeath depending on the player's choices.
"With an all new story and cast, an expanded roster of demons to manage, vastly expanded party interaction, an all new soundtrack from composer Kenji Ito (SaGa series), plus a host of refinements and improvements over its predecessor, Devil Survivor 2 doesn't simply deliver more of the same-it delivers more and better, exactly what we believe a good sequel should," said Atlus' Aram Jabbari.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 will hit the Nintendo DS in 2012. Strangely enough, no 3DS version has been announced yet. Those who want to play a Devil Survivor game on the new Nintendo handheld can check out Devil Survivor Overclocked for the 3DS.
