Aliens: Infestation hits North America in October

Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines is still a long way from release, but franchise fans who just really have to strap on their pulse rifles and blast a few xenomorphs are getting something to make the wait a bit more bearable.

Aliens: Infestation, the upcoming sidescrolling action title for the Nintendo DS handheld, has now been confirmed for an October 11 release in North America. European gamers will be getting it a little earlier on September 30.

The game, which BloodRayne: Betrayal developer WayForward is making in collaboration with Gearbox Software, will tie in with next year's Aliens: Colonial Marines. According to Sega West VP of marketing, Gary Knight, the handheld title takes a markedly different approach to their other upcoming Aliens games by focusing more on exploration of the expanded ALiens universe.

Aliens: Infestation will players recruit and play as 19 different marines and explore iconic environments such as the Sulaco, the Derelict ship, and LV-426.
