Zelda helps 3DS back into first place in Japan

The 3D remake of classic Nintendo 64 title has helped propelled Nintendo's new hardware back on top of the Japanese charts after twelve weeks.

For the week of June 13 through June 19, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time 3D has debuted on the second place, enough to help boost the sales of the 3DS. For the first time in twelve weeks, the 3D-centric device has outpace it's nearest rival, the PSP, which now slips to number two.

Here's Media Create's top 10 software sales chart for the week ending June 19th:

3DS: 40,649 (24,649)
PSP: 31,741 (26,681)
PS3: 16,081 (17,104)
Wii: 6,678 (6,357)
DSi LL: 5,464 (5,283)
DSi: 5,322 (5,232)
X360: 2,875 (2,370)

Topping the software chart's this week is Level-5's long awaited portable title, Little Battle Experience, which debuted straight to number one, moving 166,187 units, just ahead of the Zelda remake with 164,110 units.

Yup, I gotta admit the game line up isn't all that great. Although I did have a blast playing Pirates (although way too easy) and now I'm having a blast playing Zelda.

It's to be expected with a BC device that is so close to the previous. They should have done a little something more to make it a newer device worth purchasing.
