VVVVVV and Bionic Commando Now on eShop

The week between Christmas and New Year’s is a sort of gaming dead zone, with very few new titles hitting shelves and most gamers busy working on the titles they received over the holiday. But Nintendo is committed to keeping its weekly eShop release schedule, and actually dropped a pretty decent update here at the end of 2011.

Available now for your Nintendo 3DS are two excellent platformers: VVVVVV and Bionic Commando. The first game, released in 2010, is an incredibly challenging and fun platformer steeped in classic tradition, and the 3DS release marks the first time you can play it anywhere beyond your PC. The second game is actually a port of the original Game Boy version of Bionic Commando, in which you take the role of a super-soldier with a mechanical arm.

Bionic Commando will run you $3.99, while VVVVVV is priced at $7.99. Both are worth a look if you have a 3DS and are looking for an old-school game to play, but it’s worth noting that VVVVVV is only $1.24 on Steam – pick it up for PC if you aren't worried about keeping it in your pocket.
