TriForce has a 3DS. Do you have yours yet?

Isiah TriForce Johnson is as hardcore as Nintendo fans get. The fact that he had "TriForce" legally added to his name should be enough to attest to that, not to mention the Nintendo PowerGlove that's always affixed to his right arm.

This superfan makes it a personal commitment to always be first in line whenever Nintendo launches a brand new console. For the 3DS, he actually started a one-man launch line at Best Buy's Union Square location in New York City last Tuesday but store security and New York's finest disrupted his plans.

TriForce's dedication paid off, however, and he was indeed the first to buy a 3DS at the Best Buy launch -- just like he was the first to buy a DSi and a Wii when those gaming platfrms came out in the U.S. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime and one of Best Buy's presidents, Michael Vitelli, posed with TriForce as they handed him his 3DS just minutes after midnight.

In a few months or a year, not gonna pay full price for 3DS, while PSP2 (NGP) is on its way.

Wearing a power glove in public as a fashion? Changing his middle name to triforce? This guy needs serious help.

Yup. Got mine. Not much of a line here, only about 10 or so people. That, and it was a 9AM launch, not midnight for us.However, I was first though.

Yeah, I was actually a bit surprised other people showed up.

I asked the guy at the counter and he said only around 40 people preordered theirs. (And ours is the only Gamestop for some distance)

What makes this guy the first in the US to own a 3DS? What about all the people who work at the stores with a 3DS in their storage who decides to take one before the release? Or the billions of stores that have a midnight or whatever launch and the person that buys it first?

The article clearly says the first at the "best buy launch" which was at midnight and also was the "main" US launch place... You may notice the President of Nintendo America attended...
Chill dude...

my story is simple. i left to be early there atleast by an hour. i'm waitin and there is NO ONE THERE!!!! not one person. 15min comes around a kid comes to sell his old DSi fair enuph. second is a lady and her kid. time comes around they open i'm 1st in to get my 3DS the manager sitting there with only 6 3DS systems in their boxes behind em. i grab i get. heck i'm happy. i'm the 1st this mornin to get the 3ds in my area because there was no midnight launch anywhere in town. i will say though. i am impressed. but after playing the thing for 3 hours your eyes start to hurt with the 3d on. had to take some headache medication and get out because this system has me hooked.

i would have to disagree with the "powerglove fashion statement" nay sayers and (to a slightly lesser degree)the name change haters. the guy loves videogames, where a name change might seem a little extreme to you, i ask you to consider this; mr. triforce is known for loving nintendo, people probably starting calling him triforce as a nickname and it stuck. all im saying is that the guy loves games and he owns it. most people spend their whole lives working, just to retire and enjoy the things they did before they had to start working, when they were kids. triforce is lucky enough to have something he enjoys that much, that you dont have to retire in order to enjoy.
as for the powerglove, its cool and was way ahead of its time conceptually. black and white go with just about anything and its got some quasi-android kinda vibe. the long and short is its really lame to hate on people for doing things they like and having fun, think about it, your basically hating on fun and noone hates fun.
