Remember last year when we had Ocarina Of Time’s rendition of Hyrule recrafted in Minecraft? Well it was an amazing effort, with all of Hyrule (excluding the intricate interiors of the dungeons) recreated in Minecraft. Well in the same vein comes ‘Zelda Fan Game Central’ member MaJoRa’s recreation of (Ocarina Of Time’s) Hyrule in A Link To The Past’s graphical style.

2 years of effort, the recreation is a pixel by pixel project, which isn’t even over yet. The more we see things like this, the more videogames slowly become a ‘cemented’ medium, like film and songs, where we see homages, remakes and covers that are accepted as such instantly, with the referenced piece being a given. MaJoRa is still open to new ideas, and says that ending now would feel ‘too soon’, and that he will find a new way to ‘step this up’.

Suggestions and constructive criticism are more than welcome over at the forum itself here. Although the project itself should be viewable there, at the time of writing all the pictures of the maps have exceeded their photobucket viewing limit, but keep tuned as I’m sure they’ll return somehow soon.

How would you like to see Hyrule recreated next?
