Ridge Racer 3DS update causes freeze

Ridge Racer 3DS' update won't be coming out till tomorrow, June 7th, but already, Nintendo Japan is warning that it might bring on the freeze bug.

Nintendo Japan's alert claims that updating your game to the update will result to having your game freeze in certain areas. However, the conditions do appear to be very specific so at least you can avoid the situation that will let entrap you. If you press B from the Machine Select or Race Select menus before you start on a Single Play or Grand Prix race, then the screen will probably freeze up.

Obviously, the way to not get your game frozen is to steer clear of the darned B button when at that part of the menu. Don't worry, though, because Nintendo is set to come out with another update in mid-June to squish out this particular bug. Meanwhile, its sister game, Ridge Racer Unbounded, for the PSP, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, recently got its official release date, as well as a spanking new trailer.

Here we go, more half assed update problems, it's not like the machine has a wide selection of games to be tested, or that they didn't have extra time to check, what a pain.

even handheld games crash now, all because the games are now patchable so they release buggy games

It was fine when released. The Update introduces the bug.

I'm not sure this article is correct per se...the update isn't specifically for for Ridge Racer 3D, it's the firmware update for the Nintendo 3DS system itself. The update launches today (June 6th) in North America and Tomorrow (June 7th) in Japan and will finally open up the Nintendo eShop and the 3DS Web Browser. There isn't going to be an update to Ridge Racer on the 7th, but rather and update to the system and, seeing as Nintendo has already delayed the launch of the eShop once and wasn't able to identify the bug until just recently, they figured they'd let everyone know about the bug rather than make people further upset this close to e3. They'll be releasing a patch to deal with the issue mid-June if possible, but now I'm just thankful that I'll finally get to use more online features of the 3DS. =)

Yeah, something's up...the SpotPass definitely said the evening of the 6th so Nintendo is clearly having problems...NOT smart when you're less than 12 hours away from the biggest press conference of the year for your company...where are you Nintendo?
