Resident Evil Revelations Price Lower than Expected

Resident Evil Revelations is due out for the Nintendo 3DS in just a couple of weeks, and up until now we were fully expecting to pay $49.99 for the game. This price, a bit higher than normal for 3DS titles, was apparently the result of the game being installed on a 4GB card instead of the usual 2GB.

While Capcom noted that it was confident the game’s quality was well worth the extra cash, they didn’t seem happy about the higher price point. And, according to a statement on their official site, they’ve been looking for weeks to find ways to eliminate the discrepancy. It looks like they figured it out.

As of now, Resident Evil Revelations is priced at the normal rate of $39.99. It’s worth noting that the price change only applies to United States version of the game – if you live somewhere else, you’ll need to stay tuned to Capcom for further updates.

What do you think of the pricing change? Is Capcom really fighting for the wallets of consumers, or just afraid the extra $10 will scare off potential buyers?

They were afraid people would wait for an inevitable price drop.

The response of the higher price tag was negative, and I'm sure this will please the consumers, even if it is 10 dollars off.

I wasn't really trippen either way off the price point due to the fact that I know resident evil is a quality franchise that usually delivers pretty decent well length games..I would pay the same amount for a 3ds silent hill title or any other 3ds game that would deliver a quality experience thats as close to console as possible.Lowering the price for me is a plus & gives me an idea that what it all new games & systems sold at a lower price for at least the first 3-4 weeks. In my eyes they would see tons of sales & pre orders but no one seems to want to implement this formula.Just imagine if the psvita sold for 160 & 220 for the first weeks, more people would buy them and show there friends, on top of that would have enough money left over to purchase a decent game and memory card etc.

That's a full blown drive you ninny. Not just the chips on the board. The only difference between a 2GB 3DS cartridge and a 4GB 3DS cartridge are 2GB worth of chips on the board.

Those chips run about .80 cents per GB.

at the moment the game is going for £37.99 and that is seriously a major price increase for a 3DS game

Nintendo sets the price of the cartridges so you can't say it's only gonna cost Capcom like $2 extra can you. I mean i don't know how much they charging but i bet Capcom's taking a fair hit on their profits.
