If there's one thing that the Mario Kart 3D developers would like to make happen, it's to get as much players in on the fun as possible.
Producer Hideki Konno divulged this fact to Joystiq, saying that what they would really love to accomplish is to get the eight-player-online function working.

"Our goal right now is to have the same number of players for both local wireless and multiplayer over wi-fi." In order to accomplish this, what they need to do is make sure that Mario Kart 3D will be wired enough to be able to run 60FPS frame rate, even with eight players simultaneously playing, whether online or offline.
Mario Kart is a certified classic, with game directors such as Ridge Racer's Masamichi Yamazaki confessing that he did get influenced in part by the Nintendo racer.
