Nintendo 3DS Hits 1.65 Million Sold |

If you’re one of the people that though the Nintendo 3DS was destined to be a disaster, it looks like you’ll have to put your “Up Yours, Nintendo” shirt away - at least for the next few months. The company has reported that the Nintendo 3DS has moved 1.65 million units in the U.S. since its launch earlier this year, after a much-needed price drop helped to boost sales.

Nintendo is hoping that the 3DS will outstrip sales for its previous handheld, the Nintendo DS, which sold 2.37 million units in its first 12 months. With the holiday season pending, it’s possible they will actually meet this goal.
Another thing fueling the increased demand for the 3DS? Games. Though remakes like Ocarina of Time and StarFox 64 have helped to secure the 3DS a place in the hearts of passionate gamers and early adopters, upcoming titles like Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 are sure to move a few more units. Despite the new titles, Nintendo still has a serious software problem; those two games and Skyward Sword are pretty much all they have going on for the remainder of the year.
It seems like every time Nintendo releases a new console, people argue about whether or not it’s a good idea. The original DS didn’t get much love, if I recall correctly, until the Lite version surfaced, and the now-hilarious quotes from Sony regarding the Wii’s viability should be etched on the back of every PS Move controller shipped. But Nintendo always manages to find a way to make it work (except, you know, that one time) and it looks like the 3DS is here to stay.
Do you have a 3DS? Would you consider buying one based on these new titles?

Honestly, things have just been getting more entertaining with the releases, exclusive content, and the ambassador games - which were more addicting than I thought once I gave them a chance.
I actually use it all the time as a 3D camera and I can't wait for the 3D Video and 3D Stop Motion creator coming out with the November Update! XD
Time to break out my old toys and get animating!

I have Kid Icarus: Uprising pre-ordered and all payed off. I'm hoping Paper Mario will return to the turn-based strategy roots that made it great. Luigi's Mansion 2 looks promising considering the original game was worthy of praise. The new Kingdom Hearts coming out for it looks incredible (Plus it has TWEWY characters in it, what could be better?).
I have reason to believe that a new Pikmin might be coming for it, though I have no hard evidence. Haha. I'm also excited about the December 8th update (considering it's past midnight, it's currently the 7th... so... It's out TOMORROW! :D).
Anyway, can't wait for the future of the 3DS. Rumors of a new TWEWY and Smash Bros. possibly being made for it in the far future. As of now, although the 3DS rack at game stop is pretty small, it seems to have a pretty steady flow of games coming for it. A couple of WiiWare sequels like Pokemon Rumble Blast and Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove. Can't wait until I get a job and can actually buy some more of these games. Oh yeah, I also had Ocarina of Time 3D. I beat it quickly and I still have the original on my N64, so I sold it for a good thirty five bucks! XD
