Netflix for 3DS now live

As promised, Nintendo announced today the launch of a free Netflix streaming app for the 3DS that allows all Netflix members in the United States and Canada with unlimited access to instantly watch TV episodes and movies streaming from Netflix library.

"The new Netflix application looks great, plays great and is a fantastic consumer experience," said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "It gives Nintendo 3DS owners access to an amazing wealth of movies and TV shows, which they can watch conveniently from thousands of free Wi-Fi access points across the country. Nintendo 3DS truly offers something for everyone."

"Nintendo is a terrific partner with Netflix," said Reed Hastings, co-founder and CEO of Netflix. "We're excited to extend the partnership to include streaming on Nintendo 3DS."

The new Netflix application for 3DS only displays 2D movies and TV episodes for now, but Netflix promises to provide some 3D contents in the future that can be viewed in the handheld without the need for special glasses. In order to stream contents, 3DS owners needs to have a broadband Internet connection and a Netflix streaming plan, starting at US$ 7.99 a month.

Finally..Took them long enough..Now we just have to wait for netflix to add 3d content & we will be good.Heres to hoping that
netflix is a hell of a lot faster than nintendo with getting content out.Though itl be free for netflix users I would still be willing to pay a little extra for the 3d content assuming they would be releasing quality content....

Good to see 3D Netflix content being available on the 3DS, hopefully I can also view it on my Evo 3D and PS3/Sony 3D TV.
