Limited stocks for Ocarina of Time 3D at initial release?

Andriasang is reporting that Japanese retail news blog Sinobi has information on the initial stocks for Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the 3DS.

The information, however, isn't all good. As the reports would have it,  Nintendo will be tightening their hold on the stocks of Ocarina 3DS upon release, providing retail stores with but a small number of units.

"Extremely small" is how Sinobi characterized the said number of units. The source hypothesizes that this could be Nintendo's way of making sure that Ocarina 3DS does not follow the way of Spirit Tracks.

If you'll remember, Nintendo sent out tons of stock for the game, with most of the copies merely going into bargain bins due to overstock.

We've yet to determine just how much units are they actually shipping out, but maybe it would be best for you to place your pre-orders now just to make sure you get hold of a copy ASAP.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time comes out for the 3DS on June 16th.

Who already has this game on pre-order?

I'll wait until the overpriced and overhyped 3DS itself hit the bargain bin, and only then think about buying a new (yet old) game for it. :P

As long as they have plenty of stock of new, original titles like the new Kid Icarus, I don't care. I'm not necessarily chomping at the bit to get my hands on a third iteration of Ocarina of Time.

But I actually pre-ordered mine a few days ago. I bought a N64 gold cart back when it came out. I started it, but I was in college at the time and ended up not finishing it. I'm looking forward to this release. For some reason I like handhelds better than regular consoles. I also think the 3DS feels better than either the N64 or Gamecube controller, so, yeah, I'm excited. Still, I want Kid Icarus more...

Intentionally limiting availability is no reason to rush out and buy something. If you're anxious, play the N64 game. Or the gamecube game.
