James Cameron on 3D gaming, Avatar MMO

Seasoned film director James Cameron recently spoke about 3D in gaming, as well as a possible Avatar MMO.

"Videogames are going to help propel the autostereoscopic (glasses free) play because that's going to be the entry level for most people," Cameron said. "These single-viewing devices that are engaging the person to play these video games will drive a lot of investment in autostereoscopic displays for that very reason. That technology will trickle up to the larger 3D displays that will be used for home viewing and gaming."

Cameron has shown some interest in the gaming industry in he past, and he's come up with a game idea of his own.

"I'd love to do an MMORPG experience inside the Avatar universe and I would like to see it authored in 3D," he explained. "I'd like to see people doing gameplay in 3D, so that's something that we're looking to do. But we're not active on that yet."

And on topic... An MMO for Avatar kinda seems cool, but I wouldn't wanna pay a monthly fee for it.

I disagree; I have no idea why people expect every single movie to be a fabricated masterpiece with the sole aim of winning pretentious awards and critical praise.

Avatar set out with certain goals, and it accomplished them rather well. Honestly, if you walked into the theatre expecting something on par with Schindler's List... then you watched it in error.

It's like comparing Lady Gaga to Muse. Just don't.

people that say they dont like avatar only say it because they dont want to follow the crowd. EVERYONE was obsessed with it until it started breaking records and then all the sudden it "wasnt cool" because everyone liked it. ok thanks. avatar game would be cool

Naw, i think the reason why so many people dont like it now is cause all these people wish that they could be Jake Sully, they wish their life was some cool fantasy planet that they get to get thier first ever girlfriend alien and have fun adventure. Most of these people also purchased the Alien Fleshlight, to pretend they were fucking Neytiri.

that's the truth to all hatred to the movie.

Avatar was alright, second time it wasn`t that great much like many others before it.

So we`re clear it was a `good` movie but it isn`t one i`ll watch all week. Carl B probably liked it but it wasn`t a top 50 in my books. So we`re clear on hate and fans.
