Iwata talks 3DS plans for 3D-less games |

Of particular interest of course was the ongoing problem of software for the Nintendo 3DS handheld. Once again, Iwata gave out his take as to why it didn't sell as hot as pancakes like its predecessors did.
"The Nintendo 3DS did not sprint out of hte game from the start in accordance with our sales scenario. So we have done various analysis (on the cause), and we ourselves have many things to reflect on. But if I say, 'That was a mistake,' or 'We shouldn't have done that,' at this point, my words might be only partly cited, or in some cases distorted and spread.
Therefore, I do not think talking about what we did wrong in a public space will have a good impact on the future of the Nintendo 3DS. Of course, there are several things I am reflecting on, and I am also considering a number of things, but please let me refrain from mentioning respective points in detail. But at least, I think we have to greatly reflect on the fact that, at the launch, we could not implement the functions we have offered by the system update (via the Internet) around the time of E3 in June this year."
As for the curious prospect of having 3D-less games on the 3DS: "I think there could be a Nintendo 3DS software title which does not use the 3D feature at all, and I believe Nintendo will develop such software," he said. "Instead, other features of the Nintendo 3DS should be focused on.
It might be a communication feature, or other functions (such as the gyro sensor or the motion sensor). The important thing is that each respective software title has its own characteristics, and appeals to the consumers in a way that fits the software. So I am not worried in a way like, 'The value of the Nintendo 3DS will decrease when the novelty of 3D wears of.'"
Just before July ended, Nintendo announced that the 3DS will be having a huge price cut, by as much as 40%. Analysts were quick to throw in their opinion as to why the handheld is getting such a huge discount in such a short span of time, but Nintendo insists that they were merely applying a lesson they learned from the GameCube.

Seriously.... the DS and Wii had the same issue... People made games and included the use of the touchscreen/motion sensors. It didn't matter if the game was good or not, they released it anyways expecting it to sell just because the use of the new features.
Guess what! For a lot of crappy titles, this worked!
They need to get their priorities straight. 3D adds NOTHING to gameplay. It adds no new ways to play games. Just a different way to see them... So, like everyone always says... "Focus on gameplay and less on graphics."

Ocarina of Time looked and played very well in 3D. The 3D added an extra level of immersion to an already great game!
I want more 3D games not less, let's not forget the console has a 3D off option for all the haters. Why not give people the choice?
I won't be buying any 2D games for my 3DS (not including VC games) I just don't see the point

It´s: 3DS
Why is it called "3DS" ? Because it offers a 3DScreen.... This is reason for its name.
Imagine, they start producing 2D games for a 3D console... What a nonsense !
They say, they want to focus on the other features. Other features? Great. But why leave 3D to use other features ? 3D is expected to be standard and the other features should be used, too !!!
If there will be more 2D titles in future, I will also sell my 3DS to express my disappointment. So let´s hope this won´t happen.
