Iwata: 3DS price cut a lesson from GameCube

Satoru Iwata claims that Nintendo has learned a lesson from the GameCube regarding the upcoming 3DS price cut.

"Maybe the reason we were able to make the markdown decision is our lesson from Nintendo GameCube," Iwata explained. "Therefore, in that sense, it was slightly a personal decision, meaning that the current executives, who are the ones who make the decisions, all experienced, 'there was a chance for the Nintendo GameCube but we were not able to capitalize on it,' and I think that was a large factor, that the executive all shared this sense, not just myself."

"One other factor is our financial characteristics. I have repeatedly said, 'Please allow us to hold high liquidity of assets since this business has very high risks. We can have more options if we have high liquidity.' During those days, when the Wii and the Nintendo DS were in a continuous good cycle, we had cases where people asked us, 'Well, won't you be all right even without holding so much cash?' But it must be a factor to our ability to make decisions like these under situation like this, and along with this, proceed with the development of the Wii U and take on its business risks," he continued.

"We will put our best efforts to make this decision a good one."

Well, Nintendo did trick people into buying a piece of shit...
Honestly, Nintendo told people it was gonna be amazing... Have many great titles... And gonna get more expensive, so pick one up ASAP. I think people have right to complain. I don't think the price should stay high because some people bought it at the original price... I'm just saying that I would be angry, too.
In fact, I would take back the 3DS and wait for the price drop.

I'm sorry that dress you paid so much for is now cheaper. Maybe your girl-friends would think you were cooler if the things you own cost more.

Your example is pretty retarded, but if a dress was bought the first day it was out after we were told the price would get higher, and the price actually dropped, I would be pissed the same way people are pissed about this.

HMMMM Early adopters are the ones who screwed themselves into buying a DSiXLL. Right after the guy at the retail shop told the customer that nintendo was coming out with a new console next year, but they didnt listen. Christmas last year customers even went back another model and bought the limited edition green and orange DSi. What a waste. Next year Nintendo releases the 3DS, one of the biggest middle fingers ever in my opinion. And they wonder why the console is not selling. Then again it wasnt released during the holidays. DSiXLL was a waste like PSPgo, and sheep will be sheep.

there last good system in my eyes was the n64. Last two generations there consoles have been dust collectors for me. It makes me sad seeing as i loved there ips...sigh ill keep waiting....
