Enterbrain: 3DS may have slow start, but it will be 2011's winner

Despite the 3DS' seemingly slow start, Enterbrain is still confident that Nintendo's newest handheld will come out as the 2011 winner in Japan.

 

The analyst firm is said to be expecting some 2,868,000 3DS units sold in the region by the end of 2011. Their next forecast is that the PSP will be moving 2,378,000, taking 2nd place in the yearend's sales.

The 3DS launched in Japan back in February, selling an outstanding 742,244 units in its first month alone. For Enterbrain's forecast to be spot on, the Nintendo 3DS should move 58,499 units every week until the rest of 2011. Critics have been taking notice of the 3DS' movement, saying that it's only looking to be a fad, considering the noticeable slowdown in sales.

 

 

 

The handheld also faced controversies upon a number of units reportedly returned to retailers after experiencing dizziness and eye strains. Despite that, however, the 3DS continued to lure in excited would-be owners of the first handheld to integrate 3D technology, minus the need for the special glasses.

2011's winner? Very very doubtful, because there's more and better competition ahead.

3DS doesn't require 3D glasses, but I honestly don't give a crap about games in 3D.

Looking at the upcoming releases for the next 6 months.

Meh. For me anyways. Same for the NDS too.
I only play Pokemon and Phoenix Wright and god damn Square Enix games.
