Analysts: 3DS will see price drop before Vita release |

Analysts predict that Nintendo will lower the price of 3DS in anticipation of Vita's launch.
"I just looked at their revised financial forecasts and they are ready to take a hit. They are really being aggressive. It is very unlike Nintendo to be willing to take such a loss. I think what it says is that they really feel the heat from the Sony Vita," said David Cole of DFC Intelligence. "I see it as a move to protect their market share and position in handhelds. I would not call it desperation but more a very aggressive defensive action by the market leader to hold on to market position. Sony I think can possibly play this to their advantage, although the price difference is tough. Sony is going up against a very aggressive leader in Nintendo. I think we can say that competition in the portable space should really heat up. That could be good for consumers that can take advantage of these deals."
Jesse Divnich of EEDAR believes that Nintendo is stocking up releases for the holiday season to combat the Vita.
"This price cut does put the Vita in a tough position. It all comes down to the content and if the Vita can deliver a library of high quality entertainment products, it should be able to thrive at the $249 price point. Given Nintendo's success in this market and their historical ability to outperform consensus, we should all put any long-term thoughts on hold until this Holiday season. It would be fair to categorize this holiday season as one of the most important in portable gaming," Divnich said.
Nintendo already announced a price cut for the system.

Without the good dames a handheld is meaningless, unless you use it as an emulator ( PSP)
