Says it makes the hardware more relevant and appealing to developers.

Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg has praised Nintendo’s move to release an add-on peripheral for the 3DS that allows the device to have a second analog pad. Though many gamers bashed the new peripheral because of its bulky look, Hirshberg think otherwise.

"It does make the hardware more relevant and compatible to the style of games we make," Hirshberg said in an interview with IndustryGamers. "I don't have anything to announce in relation to that, but I think it was a great move and it opens up that platform to more styles of games."

Officially revealed yesterday, the weird add-on attachment is slated to arrive in Japan alongside Capcom's Monster Hunter Tri G this December. It will cost ¥1,500 or roughly US$ 20. Now is it really a smart move or a desperate one on Nintendo's part?

I disliked the psp cause I would get migraines from the screen if I tried to play for more then a half hour at a time. The screen for the psp was not very good cause you had to hold it very still or the picture could become hard to see clearly at times, if moved during game play causing me headaches. Can only hope the ps Vita solves this annoying problem.

That is one problem I have never experienced with Nintendo's hand held game systems (excluding 3ds) as have never used it. I am not saying Nintendo has better portable game systems just better implementation of being able to see the picture clearly while gaming on a hand held game system.

You're the only one ever to complain about that.

Not the only one, games that weren't platform style on PSP are hard to play for people with "fast" eyesight, the refresh rate on PSP is very low... that affect people like him, or me, whose eyes trying to scan everything everytime very fast, and changing focus fast brings headache. happens with CRT monitors with low frame rates, or sunglass too. Is jsut a small portion of the population , not big deal, but WE CAN T stand blurry images, because you can't say to your eyesight to "ignore" and ignore the small blur, and stop trying to correct focus in between fra,es.
On teh otehr hand is very good, because we have fast photographic m,emory, and can see and perceive things faster at distance. The downside, are those f*cking blurry screens!!

Soooo. When you're using both analog pads, how the F**K do you reach X, Y, A, or B?

The same way you do when you're using any other console that has a dual analog controller. Take your thumb off, press the button, and put your thumb back on >_>

You must have dam long thumbs if you can reach over that far (without letting go of the grip).

That really doesn't look very practical at all.

And how are you meant to reach the right trigger as well?

While I applaud them for making an add-on like this, it really does not look very comfortable in the slightest.

Hum...good point on the trigger. I really don't think it'll be a far reach for the other buttons. Maybe for a small child. If it is then yeah, that would suck.

Eh, I don't like it all. No sale here.

The right side of that thing looks like it's ready to break off. Hell, it looks like it's already tilting downward.
