Looking for some Castlevania action on your Nintendo 3DS?  It’s coming next March.

Konami announced that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate will release for the Nintendo 3DS on March 5, 2013.  That’s the release date for the U.S. Castlevania fans in Europe will have to wait an extra three days for the game to release on March 8.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate will take place 25 years after the Lord of Shadow’s conclusion and will focus on the Belmont clan.  The game will give players the opportunity to play as Dracula’s son Alucard or Trevor or Simon Belmont.  The storyline in Mirror of Fate will also lead into Lords of Shadow 2, which will ship next year for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

The March 2013 release date is a delayed one, as Konami had to push the game back from its intended fall 2012 release.  What’s the reasoning for the delay?  According to Konami producer Dave Cox, they wanted to make sure Mirror of Fate would be a “handheld title unlike any other.”  That sounds pretty ambitious.  We’ll have to wait until March to see if Mirror of Fate actually lives up to that promise.
