Ó

Black Friday deals and New 3DS Bundles surely helped Nintendo reach this feat a little quicker, but it is still a positive sign and some good news for Nintendo.

There is a ton of competition in the portable gaming market now with iOs and Android both making their mark, and the Playstation Vita due very soon.

But the 3DS is holding its own for now, and has surpassed its older brother in first year console sales with 4 months to spare!

Keep in mind that the DS is the biggest selling console of all time in the U.S and second worldwide behind the Playstation 2, so things are definitely on the up for the 3DS if these stats continue.

Early Adopters of the 3DS can also be thankful today, with Nintendo confirming that the promised 10 Gameboy Advance titles that were offered as a reward for signing on to the Ambassador Programme will still be available by the end of December.

Nintendo have already made good on half of their promise to their 3DS Ambassadors, releasing ten NES titles to them (soon to be out on the eShop also). Ambassadors get the updated eShop NES titles for free as well.

The list of GBA titles for the 3DS is still a bit sparse, with the following titles confirmed to be part of the Ambassador's rewards:

  • Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island,
  • Mario Kart: Super Circuit,
  • Metroid Fusion,
  • WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames,
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong

These will all be available via digital download, so keep your eye out for the remaining five titles, as well as an indication of when they will be available to you 3DS Ambassadors.

What are you talking about? I've played all of my NES Ambassador games just fine. The only thing missing is multiplayer, but I'd hardly call them unplayable.

Are they not working on your system?

I never understood the point of these comparisons. Do these people have any clue as to many more people are on this planet now compared to the initial release?

More people are buying homes now compared to the first manufactured home. Really? Gee, I never would have guessed!

What's next? More cars sell in a week then in the whole year the Model T was released?

Sometimes they don't serve a purpose, thats true tosh.0, but the 3DS has been bashed a bit lately (so has Nintendo) for slowing sales, so looking at it compared to DS sales shows they are on track no?

A huge price drop to entice people to pick up the device and the big N actually losing money on each 3DS sold (unheard of). Last week my local Toys R'Us had the 3ds on for $139. That's cheaper than the XL.
