Sinobi: Less than 150K copies of Ocarina of Time 3D available at Japanese launch |

Yesterday we posted an article based on reports from Japanese retail news blog Sinobi that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D would be getting an "extremely" small shipment for its upcoming Japanese launch. Now we've learned just how small that number will be.
A new report from Sinobi clocks the Ocarina of Time 3D launch shipment at less than 150,000 units. There is still hope for those who haven't placed their pre-orders yet, though. Apparently, the inital report of the miniscule launch shipment caused pre-order numbers to explode so Nintendo is still keeping the door open on the possibility of additional shipments.
The original Sinobi report hypothesized that the limited number of units is likely due to Nintendo not wanting the 3DS remake of Ocarina of Time to go the same way that Spirit Tracks did. Following large quantities of stock available at and after launch, Spirit Tracks ended up in bargain bins due to overstock.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D launches exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS on June 16th.

Yea, I'm sure the shortage won't last long. I mean, this is going to be one of their biggest sellers for 3DS in 2011.
