Announcements abound for Nintendo this week, though these are not nearly as exciting as the rumoured ability for the 3DS to record video in 3D as a result of an upcoming 3DS update.

DLC updates for this month are not as extensive as previous months, but there is one game that is certainly worth a download. Double Dragon will be available at the 3DS eShop.

The full range of newly available DLC for Nintendo is:

  • Double Dragon ($3.99)
  • Castle Conqueror - Revolution ($4.99)
  • Night of the Living Carrots Part 2
  • DreamWorks Animation Halloween Collection ($1.99)

For WiiWare there is only one new DLC available, which does not look

  • Fish Tank (500 Wii Points)

Double Dragon is a classic beyond belief, having played that at the arcade it is definitely worth a $3.99 purchase for the DLC for the 3DS. Bear in mind, this does appear to be the Gameboy version of Double Dragon (the original Gameboy, with no color) so don't expect wondrous things to be running across your 3DS screen.

Following that there is just not enough in this update to be overly excited about from Nintendo. There are no action Wii games available in DLC that appeal at the moment, so the addition of a few of those would not hurt.

Hopefully so more exciting 3DS ports will be on the way soon also.

The 3DS is more than capable of supporting the NES or Arcade version of Double Dragon, yet we get the black and white Gameboy version. Thanks, but no thanks. My biggest gripe about Gameboy games on the 3DS is that they don't even have the colorization option that the GBA and GBC did 10 years ago.
