Miyamoto talks about life, death and his legacy

Miyamoto is essentially the Godfather of gaming. I imagine if you work at Nintendo and you are working on one of his properties, whether its Mario Mix or Super Mario Galaxy, you have to kneel before him and kiss his blue-tortoise shell ring before looking up into his big eyes and he tells you: Make a Good Game.

So none of that happened recently when he sat down to talk about his work and life with ZoomInGames. You can see the full video below, but a few choice quotes I took from the interview include the fact that when Nintendo announced he was stepping down, the humble man was "surprised by the reactions [he] got," adding that he appreciated "the kindness" but he says that he has no intention to retire as he's not "old enough" yet. But he said that while he has no plans to retire, they have been "planning for it."

When discussing about his own mortality and the legacy of his characters, Miyamoto said he was "jealous of his characters " as humans have to "pass away". "But they get to live on forever." I don't think Miyamoto is aware of how big an influence he is in the world. Miyamoto loved working with the guys who were making Super Mario Land 3D as many of them were kids when the original came out and now they're "paying homage" to today's customers and working on something they love.

This has me seriously worried that he isn't in the best of health...

You people are so f*cking retarded. He's not dying any time soon. Think for a minute. They're planning his retirement because in 5 years or so, he will retire. And Nintendo doesn't want to be clueless as to what the hell to do when he does. His input is huge in Nintendo, and someone else is going to have to take his place one day. If he just retired randomly, Nintendo would be f*cked.
