Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D delay confirmed

It turns out that Nintendo 3DS owners really will have to wait until next year to play Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. Publisher and developer Konami has finally confirmed that the rumors surrounding the game's release window are in fact true.

The latest report from gaming news site Kotaku confirms the delay, although no reason was given. Konami did not give a more specific window than 2012, so all 3DS gamers are left with is the new and frankly nebulous year-long release window.

The rumor first came about after a representative from Konami's French arm allegedly said that the 3DS title would be missing its 2011 window in the US and UK. Konami originally followed up the rumors by saying that they had not announced a ship date yet for the game's North American launch.

Kojima Productions have reportedly had problems getting the game to fit on 3DS cartridges. That was ostensibly fixed when Nintendo granted the studio permission to use a special 4GB cartridge specifically for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D.

That's assuming it's being compressed and they aren't redoing the textures to optimise for the new platform.
3DS has 128MB of system ram and PS2 had 32 of system and 4MB of DRAM. It's completely possible the 3DS will see more/better textures than the PS2 version.

PS: I don't know how much Video RAM the 3DS has so I'm gonna assume none.
