Tecmo Koei America has followed up the recent Japanese release date announcement for Dead or Alive: Dimensions with one for North America. The latest Dead or Alive entry is now en route to a retail release on May 24. Tecmo Koei Europe has also confirmed an even earlier release for Europe on May 20, a day after the Japanese release.
North American gamers who buy the game at launch will be able to download the first of 34 free downloadable costumes that can only be obtained through the 3DS's SpotPass feature. Just like how it will be in Japan, one free costume will be made available for download every day from May 24 until June 26. Those who missed the first release run will be able to get the costumes again from June 28 until July 31.
Dead or Alive: Dimensions brings together 25 playable fighters from the entire Dead or Alive series. Aside from the 3D support enabled by the 3DS, the game will also feature a touch screen control system that should make getting into the game easier for both new players and veteran fighters alike. There's also a Metroid-themed level and even a cameo from Samus Aran.
