Ubisoft survey hints at possible NGP price |
Listed in: News Tags: next generation portable, Sony, Ubisoft

Sony is still keeping mum about their price pont plans for the Next Generation Portable except to say that it won't restrict the device to the ultra-rich. It seems at least one major publisher has a good idea of how much it will cost, though.
Ubisoft recently sponsored a survey conducted by research firm Toluna that sought to guage consumer reaction to the NGP. The survey states that US$ 350 is the expected retail price of the PlayStation Portable successor's 3G-capable model then asks responders, "How likely would you be to purchase the Sony NGP now that you know this retail price?"
The same question was asked about the NGP model that has no 3G connectivity. The price for that particular model was placed at a considerably lower US$ 250 cost.
Keep in mind that the prices are from Ubisoft and should not be considered official. Only Sony can set the final retail price. Still, it's probably safe to expect the two NGP models to have similar price points since the survey is from a major publisher.

As for the 250$ price tag, that's a load. Sony fans can dream but it's simply not gonna happen.

However, it's a bit weird NGP could cost 250/350$ while Xperia Play goes over 600$ or so.

But yeah, there's no way that the NGP costs less than the XP. Not only does that not make sense from a perspective of the tech alone, but if if really did cost $250-$350, Sony would have announced it already in order to take most of the wind out of the sails of the 3DS.
Unless of course they plan on selling the thing at a loss, but I'm sure that I had already heard that they said they weren't going to do that.

The price could be very different then compared to now. Very different in console terms is about $50.
They're probably waiting it out to announce because even they aren't certain yet.

But 3G might be around 450 to me still sounds good
For what it is I would have no Problem paying that
As long as it stays supported
Only real question I have about the 3G is are they
Going to make you pay for the service which is most likley going
To be the case

thats why they have only made comments on its affordability and not on the acual price itself it is a good marketing
sceme that will benifit them well very smart really after all you cant make a profit if most people cannot afford to spend the money it shows they are learning and to the xperia play they simply priced it to the same cost as other competiters
