Promises to bring "console-like quality and performance" to NGP titles.

Industry leading 3D game engine provider Trinigy has announced a new version of its 3D Vision Game Engine designed for Sony's upcoming next generation portable, codenamed NGP. The "first available game engine for NGP" comes with a host of features specifically designed to "accelerate the development of graphically rich, high-performance game titles" of the new platform, taking advantage of the handheld's multi-core architecture and design, including an "optimized character skinning system, full support for input features such as multi-touch, improved multi-threading, and an optimized renderer."

“With the Vision Game Engine, developing a graphically rich, highly immersive game for NGP is no different than building a game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, or PC,” said Dag Frommhold, managing director at Trinigy. “Because of the Vision Game Engine’s flexibility, developers can use the same tools environment, the same asset types, the same game code, and many of the same graphical effects, which is an incredible advantage in an environment with so many different development platforms.”

Trinigy's Vision Game Engine joins many other middle developer's who've recently pledge their support for the NGP platform. Sony is expected to reveal more details about the PSP successor at E3 next week. Stay tuned.

nintendo didnt invent 3d dude. nvidia has had 3d support for their new graphic cards for a while now. it isnt even the same type of 3d as the 3ds (3ds has the 3d that goes into the screen). they dont mention it in the article, but 3d glasses might be required to view the 3d effects. I hope that isnt the case.

But Nintendo were the first ones who thought of the idea of using 3D. Sony is just stealing that idea just show that they can do it better than them. That's what I'm saying!

Sony had 3d in the ps3 well before the 3ds does. It really doesn't matter who did what first, the more they implement features into their systems, the more we benefit.

We could say the same thing to Nintendo. I mean they were cartridge based for ages but realised that disc based was the way to go.

It's not stealing, it's just keeping up with current demand. Someone has to have it first for other companies to have it!

For your information, it was Nintendo that did cd thing with games with they had a partnership with Sony long ago. But due to unknown events, both sides broke their partnership but not after Sony stolen the CD idea from Nintendo. That's how PlayStation was born. Do your research before you say anything.

Also, what your saying is that companies that create their own ideas, other companies can copy off of them since those same people that suck at ideas and have no creativity? Aww shut up, that's what you call the copy and paste method which everyone is using in this current timeline since these companies like Sony cannot create ideas on their own and have to resort to stealing ideas from a game company that KNOWS how to come up with ideas via their own CREATIVITY!!! Do your research you ignorant fool!

Nintendo didn't invent polygons.
This isn't even stereoscopy.
This is a 3D engine. As in, polygons.

I'm not talking about polygons meat-head. This is about all the overall ideas Sony had plaigarized from Nintendo over the years. So just be quiet since you have nothing smart to say.

You do realize sony had come up with motion control via hands ala Kinect, and with a "wand" ala wii. So everybody else stole ideas from Sony, who also came out with the first real successful disk console.

Sega Saturn came out before PS1 did and it was very successful, although it got discontinued, unfortunately. :(

Old Sega rocks, New Sega is shit.

Are you saying Sony is stealing from Nintendo because their handheld is compatable with some random middleware Game Engine?

ok i'll bite, this is a game engine, the tools necessary to create the environment for us, the players to play in. now, bear with me for a moment if you can, back in the days of the NES and SMS we had 2D side scrollers because of the limited hardware capabilities. with the N64 and PS1 (saturn?) developers had the ability to (hold on to your pants) create worlds in 3Dimensions! instead of just being able to move left and right and up/down on a planar surface, you could now move along the X,Y and Z axis.
amazing what these videogame things can do huh? :-*

Sony didn't steal anything, Nintendo did with a lot of things, but it's rather their own versions/upgrades.

Did Nintendo invent motion control? No, it already exist back in the Atari days.

Did Nintendo invent 3D? Nope.

Did Nintendo invent cartridges? Nope.

Nintendo didn't invent anything, they were good back in the 90's but now they're shit.

NES and SNES, are fantastic classic consoles.

Now stop bitching, whore.

I have never taken as little notice if an upcoming console as I have of this NGP, another attempt by Sony to break into Nintendos dominion and the next one doomed to fail because to the people who buy handhelds don't play Quake on the train to work, they play Sudoku, so congrats to Sony for their upcoming paperweight, one that'll join my PSP on the shelf.

Note: I don't like the name VITA.

Sadly, I'm almost sure It's going to be unveiled in E3 with that name , so I'm trying to train myself to accept it from now on.

This should have been a news article that went unnoticed and meant very little, but because it had "3D" in the title we have over 20 comments. Some confusing the term "3D" for something else and others just fighting for/against Nintendo and Sony. Nowhere in the article does it say Sony did anything, yet Sony is stealing an idea.

It's like me giving my neighbor some tacks and a horde of people complaining that my neighbor is stealing taxes from my other neighbor.
