The PSP's next successor is all set to conquer the handheld gaming market once again with the arrival of PlayStation Vita.

Forget about NGP, Sony next handheld will be officially called "PlayStation Vita" from now on. Announced during the company's E3 2011 press conference, the PlayStation Vita (aka PS Vita or the PCH-1000 series) will come in two versions, a Wi-Fi Model which sells for 24,980 yen (including tax) in Japan, US$ 249 in US and €249 in Europe, and a 3G/Wi-Fi model which will be available for 29,980 yen (including tax) in Japan, US$ 299 in US and €299 in Europe. The device is slated to arrive in the "global market starting the end of 2011."
"Vita,” means “Life” in Latin according to Sony. It was "chosen as the most appropriate name for the next generation portable entertainment system as it enables a revolutionary combination of rich gaming and social connectivity within a real world context. SCE is aiming to transform every aspect of user’s daily life into an entertainment experience."
Late last week, Sony has announced its first party titles for the upcoming handheld. It includes Uncharted: Golden Abyss, a new Wipeout game called WipEout 2084 and Super Stardust Delta, among others.

On the topic of price, however, I'm a little pissed that it costs more in Europe than it does in the US.

*Half a year later* According to a PS hacking site, the PSV has been hacked.
*1 month later* Sony has changed their name to SUNY and is currently suing the PSV's hackers.
*1 week later* SUNY has re-activated the camera and GPS in the PSV to watch and find suspicious PSV owners.
*24 hours and 3 minutes later* SUNY has been taken down by half of the PSV community..." lol jk

It wont cost nearly what they say as they will remove all the good features they first advertised and keep removing features over its lifetime too.
At its $250US and $300US I'm wondering what the AUS version will cost?
As its the exact same thing I'm guessing in AUS it'll cost $400AUD and $500AUD.
They love to rip off us Aussies.

I guess I could get a paint marker or some fingernail polish and paint out any labeling that says "vita".
Heck, maybe I'll paint out anything that says sony too and then tell people its the new handheld xbox.
