WoW Theorycrafting: Vile Poison for the Rogue

rogue - Image 1 There is a recent discussion brewing up over at World of Warcraft Europe, and it deals with the game's resident (usable) black heart - the Rogue class. Rogues are notorious for their high Damage Per Second (DPS) rate thanks to their combos, and aside from Mages, are a favorite addition for any party on a boss hunt.

Now, in light of their role as a DPS spammer (among other uses), Zuktel has set up a theorycraft thread regarding his thoughts on the rogue's Vile Poison talent, which boosts the damage dealt by poisons and the envenom ability.

The meat of the matter is that Zuktel is attempting to find an alternate rogue build, preferably one that made use of Vile Poison. His current findings indicate a considerable increase in damage as compared to past normal damage-reliant builds, as he explained:

Damage on Deadly Poison: 180 over 12 sec.
180 * 5 (stacks) = 900 damage
900 damage *1.20 (20% from Vile Poisons Talent)= 1080 over 12 seconds.

So we could potentially have that ticking away.

Instant poison:

146 - 194 Nature damage instantly applied with a 20% flat chance to proc.

146 * 1.20 (again, talent 20%) = ~175
194 * 1.20 = ~233

Ending up with 175 - 233 instantly applied.

Just keep in mind that the discussion on this experimental build are ongoing, though resident rogues looking for unconventional builds may want to read as to where this thread may go.
