WoW players' woes on Alterac Valley |
After reading the title of a thread in the World of Warcraft Forums, we braced ourselves for a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth. The title of the thread in question: Do people REALLY care about AV that much? For those who haven't been to Alterac Valley (AV) battlegrounds, here's a bit of a primer. It's relatively more vast than the other battlegrounds and it has suffered a blow when summoning was barred in the battlegrounds, making getting from one end to another very difficult. Now, players from the WoW Forums complain that since Alterac Valley seems more partial to the Alliance faction, some players just duck into a cave and leech off from those who do the work.
Blizzard poster Drysc gave a suggestion:
There's plenty of smaller, quicker PvP encounters. All of the other battlegrounds, and certainly the arenas. The idea of large scale battles really appeals to a lot of people. That may not be everyone, but it's definitely something I think most people would like to be involved in from time to time. It's something we like, and want to incorporate in new ways into the game. We obviously made some changes to Alterac Valley that made it a much shorter affair though. While we like the epic feel of a large-scale battle, having it turn into an 18 hour stalemate really isn't that rewarding for each player. That said, we're certainly aware of the issues that affect the battleground as it stands now and are working towards solutions, but we're not discussing what those are just yet.
There you have it folks. We'll have to wait and see what happens in the long run.
