WoW forums: Clarification on disappearing pet mechanics |
Ó
A couple of months ago, Blizzard quick-fixed World of Warcraft such that every time a player mounted their steed, any pet they had on hand disappears. And while this was mostly a cosmetic fix, it appears that some players are missing the days when their prized companion rode alongside them as they travelled. That's the topic of a thread by Niblur, who further asked if Blizzard was planning to do anything about their current mechanics. Blue-texter Bornakk dropped by later to provide for this explanation:
Having the pet disappear when mounted resolved a number of issues people were experiencing and we are happy with how it has been working. No one likes an exhausted pet, so this way the pet shows up by your side and is ready to growl, bite, cleave, or torment (among other things) right after you dismount.
There is always a possibility of changing this again, but we currently have no plans to do so.
What sort of issues, you ask? Players like Moonvibe stated that it gave hunters an element of surprise. Anybody that dared plotted to attack one in PvP would have to second-guess what sort of pet they had at their command. On a more practical note, others agreed with Bornakk's point - the pets would be kept fresh and ready for combat, instead of being exhausted from their run. In case you've been keeping watch over this old issue, we do hope Blizzard's official comment has clarified on this matter.
