WoW Armory invasion of privacy? |
Ó
Just a little while ago, news came in from Blizzard about the launching of the beta test of their off-game database. Because data such as character appearance and information can be accessed even if you're not a member of World of Warcraft, some players have been saying that the Armory is an invasion of a player's privacy.
Depending on how much information is divulged, it could be possible. But we are pretty sure the sensitive information is left out. For sure, bank inventory and bag contents aren't revealed, just the general bits of info. But for some players, probably uneasy from Blizzard's last issue regarding invasion of privacy, it could be a problem in the long run.
The database was made for many reasons. People will be able to check out the better players and see what types of gear they have worn, what appearances and skills they have taken, and how high they are. Although it could bring out the bad banter occasionally, especially if you just hit the 10th level, it allows guilds to recruit new members, too.
But let's just put this one out: the search is still in beta and keeps coughing up errors, so we doubt anything could be extracted, should one be so successful.

No I do not think the armory is an invasion of privacy on the basis that all the information that is showed is game realted and in no time have I found anything near the type of information that could be deemed as an invasion of privacy. Sure I have looked up people that unfairly ghanked me during the game and sure now I know I cn seriously take them on now. And with this information u can get on the top players of the game now I think it makes everything more even. This is a great Tactical tool you can use on people now, and I love it. But the good players got one thing that Blizz can never show on a screen and that is the players skill lvl when it comes to pvp. BUt also if players were worried about their privacy. Y are they showing their build and thier gear and stuff on videos that can be found on Youtube and Google Video. In my opinion the people that have a problem with the WoW Armory are just looking for problems in anything.
