WoW: Are vendors worth it?

Okay, this is probably an opinion piece more than anything else. And it's not really my opinion that matters, but yours. BUT, I'm getting way ahead of myself.

You see, Undying posted a comment over at the WoW Insider forums, wondering if the stuff that we get from vendors are well, actually, worth it. Of course, there are some exceptions:

a) some vendors sell hard to find items
b) some vendors sell stuff "that's better than you can find anywhere in the world"
c) you can resell the said items for more on the AH

HOWEVER, cool as these perks are, most will say that you can also get these items for yourself, or get them at the AH for a much better deal. And well, come to think of it, they do have a point. After all, why settle for those white items that you can easily get as loot? Our source points out that you got to admit, some items that WoW players get from vendors are well, sort of, er....fillers.

But, as said earlier, your opinion matters here. What do you think about vendors? Let us know!
