World of Warcraft: The Shaman from a veteran's perspective

The Shaman from a veteran's perspective - Image 1In Blizzard's World of Warcraft, or any other MMO game for that matter, it is common for players to complain about what's wrong about their class. Sometimes, it's good to take a step back and focus first on what each class has to offer.

Online site WoW Insider recently had an interview with Onnix, a level 70 Shaman who seems to know his stuff. In the interview, he further reinforced the fact that Shamans are a very versatile class.

A good example of this is the comparison between Druids and Shamans, "The versatility of our [Shamans] class allows us to be instantly flexible in a variety of situations as opposed to the druid class, who have to shift forms to access limited skill sets."

This simple fact leads to less delay in the use of skills, thus prolonging the life of the party. Speaking of prolonging life, we all know that if a character keeps dying, we usually have the urge to delete it and roll up a new one. Onnix spoke about this and how the Shaman is a very tough character to put down, which makes it especially effective in soloing PvE.

Resto shamans can take a lot of abuse, and can solo fairly tough elites. Elemental and enhance shamans are great DPSers that can heal. They are just a very versatile class to play.

So, if you're sold on the Shaman, why not roll one and try it out? However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind if you do. Unlike other classes which really must specialize, it is more difficult to do so with Shamans. So here's what to do if you really want to get the most out of the class according to Onnix,

Shamans are fun. Just don't expect to do crazy DPS and don't expect to be the best healer. It takes more effort to excel in any given area than it does for other classes. You'll have a lot of fun leveling up, but don't expect to do anything but heal in the end game.

There you have it, a veteran gamer gives the nitty gritty on what becoming a Shaman is all about. If you want to read more on this, feel free to click on our Read link. Be sure to keep checking back here at QJ.NET for more updates on World of Warcraft.
