World of Warcraft 101: Lady Vashj |
Brothers and sisters, we are gathered here today to remember the dearly departed Lady Vashj, Coilfang Matron. Nope, we're not going to ask for eulogies. This is a World of Warcraft lore lesson for the second naga, Vashj.
Lady Vashj started out as a Highborne night elf. During which time she served Queen Azshara at Zin-Azshari (capital of the Night Elves) and was the favorite for her loyalty. Let's just say she's a bit fanatic... err- overzealous. Imagine Vashj's surprise when the Queen offers to make Tyrande Whisperwind (wife of Malfurion Stormrage) the majordomo instead of her. Anyway, she was a skilled sorceress and one of the best archers around (out skilled only by Sylvanas Windrunner and Shandris Feathermoon). Oh and note that Tyrande, Illidan, and Malfurion have a history too.
So how did she become a naga? When the Well of Eternity was destroyed, Azshara and the rest of the Highborne were trapped in the explosion. Azshara made a deal with the Old Gods and poof! They mutated into half serpents half night elf, some got mutations of sea creatures. Anyway, Vashj met Illidan Stormrage and struck a deal to help each other get rid of their common enemy, the Night Elves.
Over a few goings in and out of Dalaran and Lodaeron, Vashj meets Kael'thas and manipulates him to join Illidan. When Illidan gets captured by the forces of Maiev the Watcher, they joined forces and rescued the Betrayer. She also helped with Illidan's conquest of the Black Temple against Magtheridon, killing the Mistress of Torment. After they finish off Magtheridon, Kil'jaeden appears and orders them to destroy the Frozen Throne.
As luck would have it, they did find Arthas and the Frozen Throne. Illidan and Arthas squared off and though Illidan lost, Vashj still serves him. As you already know, in the World of Warcraft Lady Vashj is the main boss of Serpentshrine and she carries Vials of Eternity.
