What's up with MMO naming violations? |

You usually can appreciate a company for its rules and regulations, but sometimes, you're not entirely sure why they single you out for punishment when other people are doing worse things. As it is with life, so it is with our online lives, as one blogger managed to find out.
Knuttjob, a level 42 Gnome Warrior, was happily going about his way in an instance with a friend when one of Blizzard's GM comes to talk to him. Some moments later, Knuttjob gets booted out and returns to find the above screen languishing over his avatar. The question is: was it justified?
Capn John, the player who controls Knuttjob, mused about it on his blog:
In case you're a puritan and you're getting the wrong idea, a nutjob is a crazy person, a nutter, someone who is, essentially, nuts. When I role play Knuttjob he is one crazy little Gnome who refuses to back down from a fight no matter how outmatched he might be. He's nuts, plain and simple. With me being an officer in my Guild, the Knocturnal Knights, it made perfect sense to gname my gnome...er...name my nome...no, that's not right either, it made perfect sense to call him Knuttjob
With the proliferation of Legolas hunters and Gandalf mages, wouldn't it make more sense to go after those folks rather than the ones with odd names? While we all probably love Blizzard, it's these minor things that certainly make us wish they looked at their policies with a bit more consideration. Otherwise, everyone's going to want to start calling themselves Fahkhyu or Shirley or something.
